Contact the Public Defenders Office as soon
as you are charged with a crime to determine if you are eligible
for a Public Defender. Do not wait until you receive notice from
the court with a hearing date.
Bring information regarding your financial status,
charges, names and addresses of witnesses to your eligibility interview.
Contact your attorney as soon as you receive a
letter from the Public Defenders Office advising you to do
so.
Do not discuss the facts of your case with anyone
who is not employed by the Public Defenders Office.
Advise your lawyer if you move or change your phone
number.
Do not file motions with the court on your behalf or send letters to anyone about your case.
